WORKING AT HEIGHT
For employees who use, erect, alter or dismantle mobile scaffolding and for persons appointed by their employer as the competent person for mobile scaffolding. This combined course covers the knowledge and skills required for the user, erector and competent person roles.
Do you work with mobile scaffolding, assist with its erection or dismantling, or are you responsible for inspecting and releasing it for use? This comprehensive 1-day training course teaches you how to safely use a mobile scaffold, correctly erect it and assess it as a competent person. Theory is combined with extensive practical exercises so that you can immediately apply what you learn.
During Module 1 – User, you will learn how to work safely on a mobile scaffold. The course covers hazards and preventive measures, PPE and personal fall protection, different types of mobile scaffolding, permissible loads and inspections before use. You will learn how to use scaffold tags, conformity certificates, last-minute risk assessments and checklists. Ground conditions and stability, safely moving and stabilising the scaffold, preventing falling persons and objects and the effects of changing weather conditions are also covered. During Module 2 – Erector, you will learn how to safely erect, alter and dismantle a mobile scaffold. You will learn to follow assembly instructions and diagrams and gain an understanding of anchoring, stabilisers, bracing and structural stability. During Module 3 – Competent Person, you will learn how to carry out risk assessments, inspect mobile scaffolding and prepare clear instructions for safe use. Coordination, communication, signage, access routes and demarcation of the work area are also covered.
